Handicapped Dog Enters Hall of Fame

Melissa Stevens, a veterinary technician, rescued Selina when
she was just days away from being euthanized at a shelter
In another first for a pet using a Walkin' Wheels dog wheelchair, we are thrilled to report the recent induction of Selina into the New Jersey Veterinary Medical Association Hall of Fame.

Selina, a Chihuahua mix, was left with a partially paralyzed hind end after being hit by a car. Selina’s handicap doesn’t hold her back. Equipped with a wheelchair and positive attitude, she is the official greeter at Maywood Veterinary Clinic. Selina was nominated by Melissa Stevens and Dr. Jay Buchholz of Maywood Veterinary Clinic in Maywood, New Jersey.

Animal Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony
Dr. Jay Buchholz reports that he nominated Selina for the Animal Hall of Fame because in spite of all that she has endured, Selina remains a very happy, go lucky dog!  Melissa is extremely grateful for the honor that has been bestowed upon Selina by the NJVMA.  Melissa credits the caring support from all of the doctors and staff members at Maywood Veterinary Clinic in helping to provide Selina with a meaningful quality of life.

To see Selina in action performing her duties as the official greeter at the veterinary clinic and enjoying down time with her feline sibling Pepper, be sure to watch her inductee video below. We look forward to following Selina's career for many years to come.
